Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation was recognized as one of ten charity angel organizations by the South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond during the twelfth-annual Scrooges and Angels for 2007. The ten Angels were recognized at a press conference and honored with a reception in the Secretary of State’s Office following the announcement.

The Angels honored represent organizations that exemplify charitable giving in South Carolina. “South Carolinians from all income levels respond quickly and generously when they see a true need,” said Secretary Hammond. “We all want to experience the joy of giving, to assist charitable organizations accomplish their goals – whether it’s feeding and clothing the poor, disaster relief, conducting medical research, supporting the arts and education, or any other worthy cause. Unfortunately, not all charities operate with charitable intentions. One of my duties as Secretary of State is to protect the public from unscrupulous organizations that take advantage of our generosity. I encourage charitable givers to educate themselves about their favorite charity by learning how the organization is spending its collections.
