THE POTTER CUP:2 Rival Schools...
For the past 3 years, rival schools, Paxon Hollow and Haverford Middle Schools in Pennsylvania, have brought almost 2000 kids together to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation through their annual “Potter Cup” event. An impressive event hosted by teachers and students includes a pep-rally, dance squad, wrestling, boys’ and girls’ basketball and even a head shaving to show support for cancer victims. One of the highlights of the event is the awarding of "The Potter Cup" to the school whose teams win two of the three sporting competitions. However, the students know that, whether their school goes home with The Potter Cup or not, they all are "winners" for helping out a great cause. Over the past three years, these amazing schools have raised over $100,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation! As a result of their efforts, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation awarded Dr. Naomi Balamuth, a young researcher at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, with The Potter Cup Young Investigator Award. The Potter Cup 2007 took place on Friday, January 26th at Haverford High School, Haverford, PA. The fun filled family night included sporting events, games, food, and of course, lemonade!
