SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT:
Boonville Elementary School
Boonville Elementary School in Boonville, New York initiated a new and
exciting fundraising project for Alex's Lemonade Stand. Alex's Lemonade
Stand Foundation staff member Ryan Egnaczyk visited his hometown school
on January 2 to kick off the project.
The challenge was to have an Alex's mini-stand in all the classrooms
at the school and for each classroom to collect $25.00 by the end of January.
The children were reminded how the money donated would be used to help
in the research to find a cure for childhood cancer. The children were
also given suggestions on how they could raise this money; by doing chores
around the house, using their ice cream money, shoveling side walks, etc.
The whole school was on board from the very beginning and were anxious
to show that this was a challenge that they were up for.
And meet that challenge they did!! Not only did every class collect at
least $25.00, many classes doubled that amount and in the end Boonville
Elementary was able to collect $733.45 in donations using the Alex's mini-stands.
We hope that other schools will follow their example and incorporate
the Alex's mini-stands into their fundraising,
Thanks to Boonville Elementary School for kicking off the first
ever Alex's mini-stand fundraiser for us. You have shown us all that little
(or should we say mini ?!) things can make a BIG difference!
