The 10th Annual Great Chefs Event on June 9, 2015 celebrated a decade of success for this premier Philadelphia culinary event. More than 1,200 guests – a sellout crowd - converged on Urban Outfitters headquarters to try decadent tasting plates prepared by chefs from across the country and Italy. In addition to a fun night of fine food, the event raised more than $800,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Vetri Foundation for Children.
Guests grazed among dozens of small plates, including Masaharu Morimoto’s hamachi, soba & black barley, corn, pickled red onion and miso, and Nancy Silverton + Dahlia Narvaez butterscotch budino with rosemary pine nut cookies.
Highlights of the live and silent auctions included a culinary tour of Northern Italy led by Marc Vetri and Jeff Michaud, which went for $21,000, and a weekend in Charlotte, NC with Chef Rocco Whalen.
Liz Scott, mom of Alex Scott and Co-Executive Director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, spoke about how the support of the event helps fuel childhood cancer research, and Jeff Benjamin spoke about the Vetri Foundation’s commitment to healthy kids. Alicia Vitarelli, an anchor for 6ABC, and Marc Summers, a longtime supporter and board member of ALSF, emceed the evening.
