Here's How To Make Your K12 Fundraiser a Success

Here are some extra tips to help make your K12 fundraising event an instant success!  Your success can make a difference for kids with cancer.

Be Creative:

Include multiple ways for people to donate at your stand or event such as raffles, a silent auction, or car wash. Help make your event stand out by decorating with the materials we send you, printing out downloads from our website, or making your own decorations!

Use your ALSF fundraising page:

Raise funds for your event online or hold a virtual lemonade stand by using your Alex's Lemonade Stand Fundraising Page that is created when you register. Send the link to your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates so that they can contribute to the cause. It is also a great way for family and friends to donate right to your page if they are unable to make it to your event.

Letter of Support:

Get in touch with your Stand Coach to receive this letter which includes our Tax ID number to help receive donations from local vendors. Contact your ALSF Stand Coach today to request your letter of support.

Sell Paper Lemons:

Another way to get others involved is by selling paper lemons. Approach a local store or business and ask them to help contribute to ALSF. Do it over the course of a weekend or even make it a month long endeavor. Visit our downloads section to print them out or ask us to send you some!

Accept Donations by Check and Text:

Make sure to display your “Checks Payable” sign and tell your donors that they can donate to your stand by writing a check made payable to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. They will receive a tax receipt for their donation. A “Checks Payable” sign is included in the mini pack of materials to display at your stand. Don’t forget to display signs for our newest feature, Text to Donate! Get the word out to everyone that they can make a $10 donation at your stand using your event id and texting the word “Lemonade” to 85944. View downloads here!

Make it Mean Something:

Connect visitors to your event to the cause by honoring a local child with cancer or one of our heroes from our website. If you are interested in being matched with a local family whose child has cancer, please contact us.  Other ways to make it meaningful: create a wishing well for guests to throw in change and wishes for children with cancer, display photos and stories of childhood cancer heroes from our website, and hand out cards with childhood cancer facts on them.

Public Relations/Media Assistance:

Invite honored guests or local celebrities to come to your stand.  Then promote your participation in this nationwide event by appearing in your local newspaper. For help with garnering media attention, contact our Public Relations Specialist, Gillian Kocher at Gillian@AlexsLemonade.org.

Social Media:

Use social media outlets, like Facebook and Twitter, to advertise your event to friends and family! Join the ALSF Facebook fan page or follow us on Twitter to find out up-to-date information about what we’re doing! Visit our Social Media page to learn more.

As always, we are here to help!  Please contact Tracy Weniger with questions or to ask for assistance with your K12 fundraiser, call our office toll free at 866-333-1213 or email: T.Weniger@AlexsLemonade.org
