MAGPI Video Project

Thank you to all the schools who have participated in MAGPI’s events since 2006. Almost $60,000 dollars has been raised for childhood cancer research thanks to your efforts!

We are excited to announce that the MAGPI 2012 event will take place May 8 – May 22, 2012.

Who: Students in Grades K-12; College and University Students

Cost: Free!

Requirements for Participation: MAGPI and Non-MAGPI Members are invited to register for this project! To participate, you must have H.323 videoconference gear and a connection to your state/national research and education network.

About the Project

When life gives you lemons... make lemonade! Inspired by the journey of Philadelphia-area hero Alex Scott, MAGPI ‘s Alex's Virtual Lemonade Stand Project celebrates the idea that just one kid can make a difference.  MAGPI is an Internet2 Research & Education Network Member and a Connector for the research and education community. MAGPI’S mission is to deliver regional infrastructure in a cost-effective manner and promote applications for the region's research and education communities through high performance network technology, hence Alex’s Virtual Lemonade Stand Project!

Join schools from around the world to raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer research, all while participating in standards-based projects that make the process both inspiring and fun. It's all about kids helping kids - - and we want you to get involved!

As part of this two week program, each participating school will have 2 weeks to host an Alex's Lemonade Stand. Your school can have a one-day lemonade stand fundraiser or hold a stand every day for a week - - or some other combination. After each day of sales, go to the MAGPI website and complete your online record form so MAGPI can keep track of how the entire project is doing. Each participating school will receive a official Alex's Lemonade Stand fundraising kit, including: return envelope, banner, thank you notes, stickers (I support Alex’s Lemonade Stand), newsletter, and brochures.
 
All schools will be able to communicate and interact with one another through a project blog, student-created videos, poster contest and special videoconference events!
