What is the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Leadership Academy?

The ALSF Leadership Academy is an exciting opportunity for rising high school juniors and seniors to come together for a four day, three night leadership development program. The program aims to equip students with the training and experience that they need to bring the story and mission of ALSF back into their schools and communities. In addition, the program will foster students’ leadership skills to help them implement their goals and dreams, just as Alex did.     

What is the leadership academy going to be like?

The Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Leadership Academy will be complete with hands on activities including classroom sessions and workshops designed to create awareness on what leadership is, how to use it and how it can help you reach your goals. Please view the schedule to gain a better understanding of this highly interactive and fun experience.  

Students will gather from all over for this opportunity. There will be approximately 60 high school juniors and seniors admitted into the program. It will be a great opportunity to build new friendships.   

Many students may already be leaders and use the program to improve their leadership skills. Others may come without a formalized leadership role and leave with many ideas on how to get involved more in their schools and communities.

The program is facilitated by Learning to Lead, a national nonprofit organization with years of experience in running leadership programs for students. The days will be filled with hands on activities and experiences so that participants can learn best by doing. You can review the sample schedule to get a better idea of the agenda. The program includes many smaller sessions where participants will have a chance to try out their new found skills and build strong friendships with the other ALSF Leadership Academy participants. This is not a lecture series, so do not plan on sitting a lot.
