Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is excited to announce our 4th Annual Childhood Cancer Symposium on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Inn at Penn, a Hilton Hotel.
Our Childhood Cancer Symposium is designed to be an educational resource, providing families with the opportunity to learn about issues and topics of treatment and beyond, while meeting other families in a group setting. Registration is free and is open to all those touched by childhood cancer, including patients and their siblings. Additional information about the event will be available in the coming weeks. Please check back or fill out this form if you are interested in being placed on the list for updates.
The idea to organize a Symposium came about in 2008 through Liz & Jay Scott, who as parents of a child with cancer themselves, recognized the need for families to learn about the many aspects of treatment. They decided to create a platform for knowledge to be shared by doctors, nurses and even child-life specialists. Attendees can learn about the many aspects of childhood cancer, both medical and coping. Our Symposium is unique in the ways that all families may benefit - those who are bereaved, those with a child undergoing treatment and those with a survivor. Additionally, the sessions are not geared toward just one type of cancer; rather they are designed so that families affected by all types of childhood cancer may gain insight from the information presented.
