Additional Grant Recipients
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Alex's Lemonade Stand has made several grants to Oncology Research at
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In 2005, we made a commitment to
provide $2 million over the next 5 years to support CHOP's neuroblastoma
research program.
Grants from Alex's Lemonade Stand to CHOP provide funding for a research
nurse practitioner, data manager, and social worker to work specifically
with children who are enrolling in clinical trials. This team is responsible
for getting patients into clinical trials quicker than would otherwise
be possible and following these patients on the trials.
Alex's Lemonade Stand also purchased a computer server to help tabulate
and share research data from the oncology laboratories.
Alex received experimental treatments at CHOP for the over 4 years. Things
she loved about her "new hospital" include "the playroom, art projects,
and her doctor and nurses".

of Oncology and will continue to receive funding in 2006. This position

in pediatric oncology at this hospital.
A grant was also made to support the MIBG Therapy for neuroblastoma.
This donation was made after Alex heard that the MIBG study here was in need of money. MIBG is a treatment for neuroblastoma, radioactive iodine is injected, it travels through the body and attacks neuroblastoma cells. It is only available at CHOP, UCSF, and University of Michigan in the USA. Alex received this treatment 3 times.
