Is it really free?

Yes!  Through the inspiring example of our founder Alex, we believe that young people have an incredible desire to lead and ability to change the world.   It is through the energy and enthusiasm of young people across the country, that milllions of dollars have been raised to help us make a difference for children with cancer and their families.  With encouragement and the leadership skills learned in The ALSF Leadership Academy, we hope to inspire other young people to lead and make a difference in their communities.

General Questions:

What is The ALSF Leadership Academy?

The ALSF Leadership Academy is an exciting opportunity for rising high school juniors and seniors to come together for a three day, two night leadership development program.   The program goals are to assist the participants with developing key skills so they can implement their goals and dreams.

What is The ALSF Leadership Academy going to be like?

The ALSF Leadership Academy will include hands on activities, some classroom sessions and workshops designed to create awareness on what leadership is, how to use it and how it can help students reach their goals.

Students will gather from all over for this opportunity.  There will be a total of approximately sixty high school juniors and seniors admitted into the program.  It will be a great opportunity to build new friendships.

Many students may already be leaders and use the program to improve their leadership skills. Others may come without a formalized leadership role and leave with many ideas on how to get involved more in their schools and communities. The program is facilitated by Learning to Lead, a national nonprofit organization with years of experience in running leadership programs for students.  The days will be filled with hands on activities and experiences so that participants can learn best by doing.  You can review the sample schedule.  The program includes lots of smaller sessions where participants will have a chance to try out their new found skills and build strong friendships with the other ALSF Leadership Academy participants.  This is not a lecture series, so do not plan on students sitting a lot!
