On November 2nd I will run 26.2 miles in the New York City Marathon. I have chosen to dedicate my marathon and my training to Team Lemon, the athletic branch of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). My goal is to raise $3,000 for this amazing organization.
In 2000, as an enterprising 4-year old battling neuroblastoma, Alexandra Scott held her first lemonade stand to raise money to benefit childhood cancer research. Although Alex passed away in 2004, her family and supporters around the world are committed to continuing her inspiring legacy. ALSF is dedicated to realizing Alex's dream of eradicating childhood cancer.
ALSF’s mission:
- To raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures.
- To encourage and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.
Your donation will help to fund critically-needed research to find better treatments and cures for children with cancer. ALSF has raised more than $75 million since 2005 ― with an amazing $16 million raised in 2013 alone ― to fund 375 childhood cancer research projects at 94 top hospitals and institutions in the U.S. and Canada. Your gift could lead to a crucial discovery or even a cure for childhood cancer; for example, your gift of $50 will fund one hour of research. Additionally, the ALSF Travel For Care Program offers assistance to families who must travel for childhood cancer treatment at select medical institutions across the U.S. Since 2008, the Travel For Care Program has provided over 300 flights, 2,000 nights of lodging, and 10,000 gas cards.
Please donate to my Team Lemon NYC Marathon fundraising campaign and help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation bring life-changing and lifesaving treatments to more children with cancer.
Thank you in advance for your support!
