Hello Friends! As many of you know, I have spent the last 12 years working in the laboratory at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. For the last 5 years, I have been performing a test called Flow Cytometry which aids in the diagnosis of pediatric leukemia/lymphoma. Each year, we see hundreds of cases of children, from birth to late teens who are diagnosed with leukemia and each time my heart breaks for that child and their families. Despite the growing numbers of pediatric cancer diagnosis each year (approximately 720 kids affected everyday), less than 5% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year. And so...I thought, what can I do to help?
In November, I will be participating in the Disney Avengers Super Hero Half Marathon at Disney Land in California. As a part of this race, I have decided to try and help raise funds for pediatric cancer research on behalf of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Your generous donation helps to fund critically-needed research to find better treatments and cures for children with cancer. To date, Alex's Lemonade stand has raised more than $75 million since 2005 to fund 375 childhood cancer research projects at 94 top hospitals and institutions in the US and Canada. I appreciate your time and generosity.
