Hello everyone, my name is Stacy White, and I come from a small town of 7000 people in Illinois. I have started this campaign to raise money towards a charity, and to gain a slot as a charity runner in the Chicago Marathon on October 13. This year my running group and I have set a goal to run in the Chicago Marathon. One of my running mates gained a slot by the lottery that took place early in the year. I was unable to participate, because of I had to pay my college tuition and buy college books in order to continue my college education. A few weeks ago I found out that I could still participate in the marathon as a charity runner. I thought that this would be a great way to run, I would be able to help a charity, support my running mate by running with him, and reach my goal. Raising money for this charity is the biggest thing that I have ever done in my life, and I ask if everyone will help me in my quest to raise $750 towards the charity that I am participating in. So far I have sent out letters to local businesses, sent email to radio stations, and sent messages through facebook. -Charity The charity that I am participating in is the Alex’s Lemonade Stand. This charity was started by four year old Alex Scott in 2000. Alex was diagnosed with cancer on her first birthday. In 2004, Alex received a stem cell transplant, after having the transplant Alex, told her mother that she wanted to start a lemonade stand to help raise money for children with cancer. Later on that year, Alex and two of her older brothers made a stand and raised $2,000 that day. When Alex was eight, due to the cancer, she passed away. Before Alex passed away, she raised over one million dollars for her charity. Since Alex’s passing, more than 22,000 stands have been created and have raise millions of dollars. I ask that everyone please help continue the legacy of Alex and her lemonade stand by helping me raise $750 towards her charity.
