When
My name is Jacob and I am a sophomore in high school. There was a time in my life where neither my family nor I ever thought that cancer would affect us this way. In reality, it affects us every single day. When I was two years old, I experienced very strong back pains. My mother took me to the hospital, and the doctors found a tumor in my spine. I had surgery followed by chemo. About a year and a half later, when the tumor returned, I had chemo again. The good news is, I have been cancer free for over 8 years. The bad news is, there are still many kids that are still fighting cancer, and far too many are losing the battle. I am committed to raising money for a cure so that other kids won’t have to go through what I did.
For the past several years, I have held a lemonade stand to raise money for an organization that is very important to me – Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. This year, I am doing something a little different. Throughout the month of September (National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month), we’re going the distance to find a cure for all childhood cancers through Alex’s Million Mile where participants are collectively running, walking and/or riding 1 million miles.
Please join my team – Fear the Beards – and be a part of this global event. Log your miles, share our team page, and help me raise money for childhood cancer.
Over the years, I have raised more than $25,000 for this cause and I hope to raise another $2,000 (or more!) this year.
Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children, yet less than 5% of cancer research funding is dedicated to childhood cancers each year. We can put a stop to this number, but not without your help.
1 month, 1 cause, 1 million miles...
Kids with cancer need your help!
Thank you.
