My nephew, Jay, was diagnosed with Testiscular Cancer in April of 2012 when he was a Senior in High School. Where most kids his age were worried about getting invited to a dance or determining how to hide a facial blemish for a date; Jay was faced with the worry of how he was going to kick cancers “Booty”. His journey to being cancer free began just 3 short days after being diagnosed where he had his first of two surgeries to remove the cancer. He then faced 3 rounds of Chemo both with a positive attitude and strong will. He sat in what cancer patients call the “Blue Chair” over the course of 9 weeks for approximately 136 hours. My nephew like many who have fought cancer experienced fatigue, nausea and metallic like tastes. His six month battle with cancer proved to be successful and I am happy to be able to write he is now almost TWO YEARS cancer free.

I am sure all have in some form experienced cancer whether you yourself, a close friend or a family member. Know matter the experience, it is VERY important to fight cancer together.

We are all affected by cancer. Sometimes it affects someone in our own home, or possibly a friend. Through our journey of raising money to help pediatric cancer research, we thought of our dear friends and their journey. Below is Kayden's success story with Thyroid Cancer.

Kayden Gage Gomez, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in September 2012, at the age of 12. It was the most scary thing we have been through! He underwent two surgeries, was in pediatric ICU for five days and then had to take radioactive iodine to kill what was left of the cancer. While taking the radioactive iodine he had to be isolated from his family for a week...it was truly so hard for us to not be able to hug and kiss his precious face! Through all of this, he was the strongest, most positive kid and took it knowing that God was always by his side!
He has been cancer free for almost two years now!!
He told me one day (about a year after being diagnosed) that he would never change the fact that he had cancer because it changed him for the better and brought him closer to our God!

Lucas is 7 and is in 2nd Grade at Prairie Point. He wants to help with the stand because, "To pay for medicine for people with cancer."

Sam is 4 years old and beginning Kindergarten this year. While he is young, he understands the reality of cancer. He is thrilled to have the opportunity to help out because “kids need to be kids”. He wants all the children affected by cancer to be cured so they are able to have a happy and joyful life.

Caleb is 9 years old and going into 5th grade. He is hopeful in helping out for a great cause because he believes “cancer needs to have a cure”. He thinks the lemonade stand is a great way for even children to help out.

Noah is 9 and in 4th Grade at Prairie Point. He wants to help with the stand because, "I know some people who've lived and died from cancer."

Olivia is 11 years old and is going into the 6th grade. She is excited to be able to help out for such a great cause. She believes this is a great effort to help support the research efforts for kids who are fighting for their lives. Olivia believes that every child deserves a reason to smile and finding a cure would provide that reason again.
