United States”When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, that is exactly what Alexandra "Alex" Scott did when she was just 4 years old. Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma before her first birthday. During one of her hospital visits she told her mom when she got out of the hospital she wanted to open a lemonade stand to help other children with cancer. When she got out of the hospital she opened her lemonade stand where she raised $2000 in only one day. She inspired others to open their own lemonade stand and before Alex died at the age of 8, 1 million dollars had been raised. Since then her parents started Alex’s Lemonade Foundation and have raised over 80 million dollars. The money raised goes towards new treatments, cures and awareness for childhood cancer. And more importantly to encourage the families and children in need.
I am honored to be a member of Team Lemon to run the Disney Glass Slipper Challenge. I will run a 10K on Saturday February 21st followed by a half marathon on Sunday the 22nd. As this will truly be a challenge for me to train for and complete, I still know it’s nothing compared to what the children and families go through. I ask my friends and family to help me with this journey so we can make a difference for today’s children and for the future.
