We are supporting cancer research for children because they can't do it alone. They need our help to have a voice for them.
We are also doing this walk/run/ride in honor of 6 year old Lily Noakes. Lily was diagnosed with Grade 3 Anaplastic Ependymoma on April 27, 2009. Since her diagnosis, she has been through so much. In 2009, she had surgery and radiation. Since then she has had numerous surgeries because of the side effects of the initial treatment. In 2011 she had a recurrence of the cancer where she had another surgery, proton radiation and chemotherapy. Last year, Lily had yet another recurrence and surgery. She is currently in a clinical trial for her cancer. Let's fight for Lily and every other child out there who has been diagnosed with cancer. I know it's hard enough to go through it as an adult because I have seen nearly every member in my family fight it, so I can only imagine how hard it is for a young child and how heartbreaking it can be for their parents. The amazing thing is these children always have smiles, they share their joy, they give us hope and faith that what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger and to live each day for everything it has to offer.
Help support our efforts in finding a cure for Lily's cancer and other children just like her!
