Hello! And welcome to Chelsea's Lemonade Stand raising funds for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for pediatric cancer research. September is pediatric cancer awareness month, and also marks another anniversary for Chelsea receiving a successful blood cord transplant. While raising awareness is very important, getting involved and making a difference is even more important. Did you know that all types of childhood cancers combined only receive 4% of U.S. federal funding for cancer research? Yet, cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children between infancy and age 14. When Chelsea received her first diagnosis of cancer we were told she had a 50/50 chance of reaching remission. The doctor explained, "Unfortunately there hasn't been much progress in treatment and many of the drugs and protocol are still the same as 20 years ago." It's been 4 years since that day, 2 diagnoses of cancer, 1 cord blood transplant, and countless chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Chelsea is now celebrating her 3 year anniversary and would like to help raise awareness and funds for research. We hope you can come out and help support her cause, or make a donation if you are unable to attend. Thank you!
