Welcome to our Grand Stand fundraising page for 2010. This year marks the 10th anniversary of fighting childhood cancer and our 3rd year of participation as a Grand Stand host. Each year, we host an Alex's Lemonade Stand event which gives the children in our community an opportunity to do something special and significant for other children fighting childhood cancer. Holding an Alex’s Lemonade Stand is an excellent way for us to teach kids about teamwork, respect, and having courage to make a difference in the lives of others. I firmly believe that each one of us can make a positive difference in the lives of children with cancer. A "Grand Stand" is a fun, kid friendly community event where our friends, family and coworkers come together to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer on behalf of the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. This year, we are participating in the Murfreesboro Half Marathon and Kids Fun Run in the morning and hosting our annual Grand Stand after the race. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon is a local community event in Murfreesboro, TN and is nicknamed the "Middle Half" because the race is located in the geographic center of the State of Tennessee. This event was named "Favorite Event of Rutherford County" in 2009 by the Daily News Journal Annual Ruthie Awards. We chose to participate in this event this fall because it provides a meaningful way for our adult volunteers and our kids to work together for a common goal and "Finish the Race!" while raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Our runners, Chris Estes and Jennifer Puckett will participate as Team Alex on October 16th, 2010. Our Grand Stand volunteers will be cheering on Team Alex and other runners from the course as we are sponsoring a Water Station on the course all decked out in our ALSF gear and lemon yellow tent, a brightly yellow image of hope as our station will be near the end of the course. We will also hold our 3rd Annual Grand Stand at a nearby sponsoring business to celebrate the achievements of our runners and provide lemonade, candy, gifts and other items for donations! More details will be announced. So, Team Alex, training starts today!
