In December of 2006, just before his 3rd birthday, Michael Benoit was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of childhood cancer. He bravely endured 42 weeks of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of radiation therapy, multiple hospital stays for treatment and sickness, blood draws too numerous to mention, many scans and several surgeries. There were many ups and downs along the way, but he showed his family and countless other people the meaning of courage and strength. He made us all stop and reevaluate what our lives mean. He showed us how to live in the moment and truly appreciate every second of every day. He is now 16 years old and enjoying school, football, baseball, fishing, skiing, piano and playing with his two brothers! However, there are too many children being diagnosed with cancer every day. They are having to face challenges that no child should ever be made to face. There are too many families that have lost their precious children to this disease. Michael, his family and his friends want to do anything in their power to fight against childhood cancer. And together, we can certainly make a difference! We believe in medicine, in Michael and in miracles!
