Hello All, Since June I have been training for the Philadelphia Marathon through the streets of Hoboken, New Jersey (a city which happens to be 1 square mile). The race is on November 18th and I will be running as a member of Team Lemon. This team represents Alex's Lemonade Stand, a foundation that raises money for childhood cancer research. Founder, Alex Scott was 4 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer and immediately announced that she wanted to start a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all kids who have cancer. That is exactly what she did. Since its conception in 2000, Alex's Lemonade Stand has raised $55 million to sponsor childhood cancer research, create travel programs to help support families of children receiving treatment, and develop resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer. This foundation resonated with me because I was such a devoted lemonade stand owner when I was a kid. At the time, I was raising money for Krispy Kreme donuts and looking for a productive way to spend the long months of summer. Now that I'm a little older, I'd like to continue my lemonade stand devotion, and with the help of Alex, I will do so with a much more meaningful purpose.
