Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is proud to announce the success of the3rd Annual Lemon Run Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk and kids’ dash held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park. The run, which raises funds and awareness for childhood cancer, garnered a record crowd including the participation of nearly 2,000 runners and walkers. The event raised $150,000 to help ALSF in its quest to find better treatments and cures for all kids with cancer.
Among those in attendance were several teams created to honor childhood cancer fighters including Smiley Riley, formed by the family of 2-year-old cancer survivor Riley McComb; Team Mikey Mike, honoring cancer survivor Michael Hoffman; and Team Dave-O, honoring the memory of David Theobald, who died of cancer in 1982 at the age of 8.
The overall winner was Rich Burke with a time of 16 minutes and 45 seconds. The overall female winner was Grace Mancini, with a time of 18 minutes and 55 seconds.
After all runners and walkers had completed the 3.1 mile course, Liz and Jay Scott, the parents of foundation creator Alexandra “Alex” Scott presented awards to the top participants in various age groups. Along with the top finishers of each age group, top fundraising teams were also honored including the top individual fundraiser, Lucy Littlefield, a 4-year-old cancer survivor. The day’s festivities also included various forms of entertainment, music and guest speakers.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)
ALSF emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country. To date, ALSF, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $45 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 200 research projects nationally.
