In addition to the 7 food holidays with freebies and deals that I covered earlier this month, August is when Americans celebrate National Lemonade Day. As I wrote in this piece last year about National Lemonade Day, I wondered why this food holiday happens on August 20 each year. Is it because Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was diagnosed with cancer and set up a lemonade stand to help raise money for other kids with cancer, died in August 2004 at 8 years old?
We know that Alex Scott’s legacy lives on with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. And, like I said, August 20, continues to be National Lemonade Day each year. In 2016, August 20 falls on a Saturday—this Saturday.
