Foundation and major sponsor come together to make the holiday season brighter for childhood cancer patients and their families

TBC to Present Check to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for $217,000

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer is teaming up with major sponsor TBC Retail Group to throw a holiday party for childhood cancer fighters and their families on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 12-1:30PM at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street. The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown has graciously agreed to host the holiday party for the families free of charge. Along with gifts, the fun-filled afternoon will include holiday themed craft and story time activities. The families will also be treated to lunch. In addition to the holiday oriented festivities, TBC Retail Group will present Liz and Jay Scott, parents of foundation creator Alex Scott, with a check from their fundraising efforts this past year, totaling $217,000!

More than 1,200 automotive service centers under the TBC Retail Group umbrella helped raise funds for pediatric cancer research, including Tire Kingdom, NTB-National Tire and Battery, Merchant’s Tire and Auto and Big O Tires. Big O Tires began supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in 2006, and in 2008, TBC Retail Group committed its retail stores to fundraise for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.  Since inception, the partnership has raised over $300,000.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $27 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 100 research projects nationally.
