Local preschoolers Shay Dyer and Evelyn Dorman, both of Duncannon, sold lemonade and pink-frosted cupcakes Sept. 17 at Red Rabbit Drive-In, Duncannon, to benefit the fight against childhood cancer.
The families of the girls were inspired to get involved with Alex’s Lemonade Stand after seeing so many pop up in the local area recently.
Evelyn’s mother, Stephanie, said the families took action after the recent death of Nicholas Hippman of Duncannon, a 6-year-old boy who had been struggling with cancer.
The families also did it for Allie Speck, who has been battling cancer for several years, said Stephanie Dorman.
Dorman reported that the lemonade stands are often “very good” for raising money.
Owner of the Red Rabbit Drive-In, Sam Berger, donated the lemonade for the stand.
