One business in gainesville is hoping to cure childhood cancer, one cup at a time.

"Alex's Lemonade Stand" is a national charity that started in the front yard of Alexandra Scott in Pennsylvania. Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer, before her first birthday.

When she was four years old, she decided to hold a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money for her hospital and children like her. Although she passed away at the age of eight, the charity carried on.

Now one local business has started a lemonade stand of its own.

Rod Whited, the managing director at Northwestern Mutual, said "I saw her mom speak, Liz, at a conference in April and it moved me to want to have this lemonade stand at my office, thankfully [they] got behind it with all arms."

The stand has raised more than $7,000 on Tuesday, and they hope to reach their goal of $11,000 by the end of the weekend.
