Methotrexate, a key drug used to treat the most common form of childhood leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), is facing a dangerous supply shortage. Many hospitals around the country will run out of the drug in a few days or weeks, putting children with ALL at risk of missing this treatment crucial to their survival. Approximately 3,500 children and teenagers are diagnosed with ALL each year, with cure rates approaching 90%. Without this drug, patients are at dramatically heightened risk of dying.
Join Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation as we urge the companies that produce methotrexate to quickly speed up their production of the drug so that no child has to forgo treatment.
We ask that you contact your local Members of Congress and encourage them to write letters to the four pharmaceutical companies listed below that produce methotrexate with a plea to ramp up their production of the lifesaving drug.
The four pharmaceutical companies that produce methotrexate:
- Hospira, Inc.
- Mylan Inc.
- Sandoz, Inc.
- APP Pharmaceuticals, LLC
