The Elmont Union Free School District’s June 9 Board of Education meeting featured 12 teachers receiving tenure, a final farewell to those leaving the district and the presentation of checks to multiple charitable organizations.

Twelve teachers were awarded tenure, and members of the Board congratulated and thanked them for their continued service.

“A teacher is someone who not only is brilliant…a teacher is someone is someone who really has a heart and loves what they do,” Superintendent Al Harper said. “We couldn’t be prouder of these 12 terrific educators.”

Harper thanked the retirees as well for their service and wished them luck in their future endeavors.
