Firebirds Wood Fired Grill exceeded its goal of raising $75,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and donated $100,000 to the cause. Ballantyne Corporate Park donated $306 toward the cause.

The annual fundraiser encourages communities and businesses to host lemonade stands and raise funds for childhood cancer research.

Firebirds locations in StoneCrest at Piper Glen and SouthPark participated in the event.

“Through the help of supporters like Firebirds, our foundation has funded more than 475 research projects at leading hospitals and institutions across North America. With each donation made, we are moving closer to achieving my daughter Alex’s dream, a cure for all kids with cancer,” said Liz Scott, ALSF’s co-executive director and Alex’s mother, in a news release.

This year marks the 11th year since Alex Scott issued a challenge to raise $1 million toward childhood cancer research – one cup of lemonade at a time. Approximately $320,000 has been donated to date.
