Payton Kannarr, 13, is in remission from leukemia, but she continues to fight and give back to the same organization that helped her along this journey.

Payton, her mom, Amy, cousin and grandma, set up their lemonade stand yesterday in front of Kannarr Eye Care. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the quartet took donations for the lemonade. The donations will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, the same foundation that has helped Payton.

“They helped a lot with me,” Payton said. “And now we can help other kids.”

There was a steady stream of support from the community during the two hours. One young patron even gave $10 that he earned from his own lemonade stand.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand was started by a young girl who was diagnosed with cancer before her first birthday. The girl passed when she was 8-years-old, but the foundation has raised over $100 million since its inception in 2000.

“Through lemonade stands and other (donations) makes clinical treatment possible to children like Payton,” Amy said.
