A fundraiser in Salisbury on Monday will raise money for research and treatments for childhood cancer.

Our Kids Care Lemonade Stand will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Latitude Sports Club, 191 Elm St., and is being hosted by the playcare at the gym.

The goal is to raise more than $2,000 to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. The nonprofit organization was started by Liz and Jay Scott of Manchester, Connecticut, to continue the legacy of their daughter Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who died in 2004 at age 8.

Diagnosed with neuroblastoma before her first birthday, Alex started setting up lemonade stands when she was 4 to raise money to help find a cure for childhood cancer. She inspired others to start stands, as well, and more than $1 million was raised before her death. The foundation has now raised more than $100 million.
