Hundreds of cyclists sacrificed sleeping in on July 4th to roll around town for more than just personal benefit.

More than three hundred cyclists geared up and rolled out from the Government Employees Health Administration Building near the Independence Center for a ride ranging from 35-75 miles of back country roads through eastern Jackson County.

“It’s a beautiful morning; it’ll be perfect,” said  Susan Blowey with Alex’s Lemonade Stand said. And it was a perfect Saturday to ride.

Todd Pennington with Bike Stop helped riders with gear adjustments and any flat tires along the way.

“With weather like today’s, we’re having really good spirits. We’ve got probably one of the best rest stops in town with some good food and drinks,” said Pennington.
