81 Hallrich-owned Pizza Huts to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer on July 31
In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, 81 Pizza Hut locations throughout northeast Ohio will host Alex’s Lemonade Stands on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 3 to 7pm. The fundraising event, which will go hand in hand with the location’s pizza tents, was the idea of Jeff Andrews, Regional Operations Manager for the Hallrich owned Pizza Huts. With a long history of giving back and being involved with the community, he thought that Alex’s Lemonade Stands were a natural fit to take part in. In addition to the Alex’s Lemonade Stands (100% of the proceeds will benefit the foundation dedicated to finding a cure for all childhood cancers), there will also be hot and ready pepperoni pizzas available for $5.50 at a majority of the locations.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). 2010 marks 10 years since 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $30 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 125 research projects nationally.
