ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION TO AUCTION ALEX’S ORIGINAL ARTWORK AT 10TH ANNUAL LEMON BALL

Founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s painting has raised over $100,000 in the past

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, will be auctioning a painting created by founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott during the live auction at The 10th Annual Lemon Ball. The painting has raised over $100,000 over the past nine annual galas.

Each year the Alex’s painting is included in the live auction. Lucky winners get to keep the painting for 11 months and then return it to the Foundation to be auctioned again. Although The 10th Annual Lemon Ball has sold out, supporters can still bid on silent auction items electronically.

Co-Executive Directors Jay and Liz Scott, were looking for a more personal and meaningful item to add to the auction. “We always start off the auction with a plate of lemon cookies that Liz bakes, but we were looking for something more closely tied to Alex,” said Jay Scott.

Many of the Foundation’s sponsors, have won the painting in previous auctions, including diamond sponsor Auntie Anne’s and presenting sponsor and this year’s honoree Volvo. After winning the painting in 2014, presenting sponsor Northwestern Mutual displayed Alex’s painting in the Milwaukee Museum of Art for a night during an NM Foundation celebration which over 2,000 people attended.

The Lemon Ball is an evening of cocktails, dinner, raffles, silent and live auctions and entertainment bringing together supporters of the Foundation’s mission – a cure for all kids with cancer. Liz and Jay Scott, the parents of the late Alex Scott, will co-chair the gala with Susan and Robert Stein. Last year’s Lemon Ball raised more than $1 million.

The gala will also be honoring 11 year-old fundraiser and Childhood Cancer Hero Maya Rigler, who is currently battling cancer, 2015 World Series Champion Alex Gordon, and Volvo.
