Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Hosts Second Annual Striking Out Childhood Cancer Event

The second annual bowling event honors the memory of local childhood cancer hero, C.J. Banaszek, while raising funds for research.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, will host the second annual Striking Out Childhood Cancer presented by Northwestern Mutual on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 1-7 PM at AMF Boulevard Lanes, 1100 Petaluma Blvd. South, Petaluma, CA 94952. The “birthday bowling bash” is a celebration of life and commemorates the birthday of local childhood cancer hero, C.J. Banaszek.

Remembered as a humorous and hopeful hero, C.J. was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia at age 11. He possessed the level of strength and positivity that ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott was also known for. Always fighting his battle with a smile on his face, C.J. endured months of transplants and hospital visits before ultimately losing his life to a fungal infection that he acquired during treatments.

C.J.’s mother, Heather Banaszek, hopes  this event will not only honor the memory of her son, but will also help other children and families by contributing funds to discover better and safer treatments. The 2016 event hopes to raise $100,000 for ALSF.

Check-in for the bowling tournament begins at 12 PM, with the tournament starting at 1 PM. Individual tickets are available for $125 and sponsorship tickets are available starting at $1,000. Following the bowling bash, a cocktail hour and dinner party—hosted by Lombardi’s Catering, with free refreshments from Lagunitas, Trinchero Family Estates and Bacardi—will take place next door at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building. During this time, guests can also participate in live and silent auctions, which include packages from the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. Dinner tickets are included in the sponsorship and individual tickets, or can be purchased separately for $100.

For more information about becoming a sponsor or donating to the auctions, contact Heather Banaszek at [email protected].
