Join Childhood Cancer Families, Volunteers and Sponsors during Alex’s Lemonade Days to Find Cures for All Kids with Cancer

The national fundraising initiative includes support from 36 childhood cancer families selected to represent the number of children diagnosed with cancer daily.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, invites volunteers of all ages across the country to host lemonade stands during Alex’s Lemonade Days (June 10-12, 2016). The nationwide volunteer fundraiser commemorates Foundation creator Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s challenge to help her raise $1 million for childhood cancer cures, one cup of lemonade at a time.

This year, ALSF has selected 36 Lemonade Days Hero Reps to symbolically represent the 36 children diagnosed daily with cancer in the United States. Each hero rep family has been personally impacted by childhood cancer. They will host a lemonade stand during Alex’s Lemonade Days and spread awareness about the ongoing childhood cancer fight by sharing their personal journeys.

In addition to the Lemonade Days Hero Reps enlisting the help of their communities, thousands of volunteers across the country will also set up lemonade stands and events to contribute to childhood cancer cures. People looking for other ways to support the movement can get involved in multiple ways including visiting a local lemonade stand, supporting one of ALSF’s sponsors’ fundraisers or simply showing support through social media by using #LemonadeDays. Foundation Special Events

Each June, on the Saturday of Alex’s Lemonade Days weekend, Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand is held. The stand invites Alex’s family, friends and all supporters of the battle against childhood cancer to an event complete with lemonade, food, games, crafts, face-painting, music and raffles. The inspiring event, held at Penn Wynne Elementary where Alex attended, includes a butterfly release to celebrate the lives of all children fighting cancer as well as those who lost their life to the disease. Alex’s “Original” is presented by Country Time and Volvo, with additional support from GEICO local office of Wynnewood, PA, Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms, Sila Heating & Air Conditioning, Dr. Ian Thomas-Springfield Orthodontics and Sabrina’s Café. The event is free to attend, but supporters can purchase Alex’s All Access passes, including a t-shirt, to cover all donations for activities and food.

Also taking place in Philadelphia, the 11th Annual Great Chefs Event on Tuesday, June 14, when culinary stars will converge at the Urban Outfitters Headquarters in the Navy Yard to cook for childhood cancer cures. Among the famous faces featured at the event: Host Chef Marc Vetri, David Chang, Bobby Flay, Robert Irvine and many more. The Great Chefs Event benefits both Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Vetri Community Partnership.
