Frances Abu Shanab, 5, held a lemonade stand in Codornices Park over the weekend to celebrate the end of her cancer treatment and raise money during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Between playing "duck, duck, goose" and eating cake with her friends, 5-year-old Frances Abu Shanab — known as Franny to her friends — raised $800 over the weekend for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for childhood cancer.
Frances, a first grader at Bentley School who makes clear that she is "five and three-quarters" going on 6 years old, recently finished treatment for Acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
"She wanted to have a celebration and she also wanted to do something good for others," said Sarah Abu Shanab, Franny's mom.
