LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

First graders at Chireno Elementary School took a class project to a whole new level, when they turned a lemonade stand into a worthy cause.

The first graders wanted to do something that not only allowed them to use their math, English and social studies skills, but something that would make a difference for future generations.

"Over twelve thousand children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this year, these kids may face cancer before they learn to walk or talk," said Chireno first grader, Raeleigh Thornton.
