PEORIA -- Ten years ago, a little girl with cancer set up a lemonade stand, raising money to find a cure. Cancer eventually took her life, but now neighborhood kids in Peoria are taking up her cause.
Bright yellow balloons along the sidewalk mark the spot where the lemonade stand is taking place.
PJ Bartos set up the stand to raise money for kids with cancer. It's part of Alex's Lemonade Stand, a nationwide fundraiser with thousands of volunteers like PJ.
"He's a thoughtful little boy, and when we finally gave in he was so excited. It's a way to give back, we are happy he has this commitment," says PJ's mom Donna.
Mom helped PJ make the lemonade, and friends are helping him sell it. PJ's hoping to raise $2,000.
This is his second year running the lemonade stand. Little stands like PJ's have raised millions of dollars over the years for cancer research.
