Rita’s 4th Annual Paper Lemon Event held in June 2009.

From June 1 through June 30, Rita’s guests had the opportunity to help put a squeeze on childhood cancer by obtaining a paper lemon through a $1 donation. Hundreds of thousands of guests  personalized their paper lemons, which were then displayed in the local store’s “Wall of Hope,” a visual tribute to the community’s participation in the fundraiser.  Rita's efforts this year, raised an astonishing $450,000 to support our mission of fighting childhood cancer.

In just three years, Rita’s Water Ice, the nation’s largest Italian Ice concept with more than 500 stores across 17 states, has raised more than $2 million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation !  In 2008 alone, Rita’s raised $520,000 for ALSF during its signature paper lemon fundraiser.

In 2006, Rita’s Water Ice officially became a corporate partner of ALSF and implemented its paper lemon "Wall of Hope"  promotion to help raise funds for pediatric cancer research. In honor of our founder, Alex, Rita’s renamed its Lemon ice flavor—“Alex’s Lemonade.” Lemon, one of Rita’s two original flavor offerings when the company was established in 1984, is one of the company’s five most popular flavors.
