Cindy Ellis

Cindy Ellis always admired the Scott’s. As a parent living in the same neighborhood and with children attending the same school, Cindy felt the impact and inspiration of Alex Scott on a personal level. After Alex passed away in 2004, Cindy began volunteering at the Foundation, filing thousands of cards, letters and photos in her basement. When Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation moved into their first office space, she continued to volunteer and was one day placed in front of a computer and asked to enter data. Since that time Cynthia has enjoyed working at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation full time, humbled every day by the journeys of children who have been touched by childhood cancer, the dedicated volunteers and donors who surround the cause. Cindy looks forward to coming to work every Monday.

What I do at ALSF...

I have the opportunity to say "thank you" to all of ALSF donors, volunteers and supporters. We send out hundreds of thank you letters, make personal telephone calls and meet with donors weekly. I address work place giving (United Way, CFC, matching gifts and employee giving programs) and State Registrations. One of my favorite responsibilites is to feature the heartfelt letters and artwork we receive from our stand hosts on our website. Jay and Liz love the cards and letters from children especially!!

What I like most about my job...

Anytime I get the opportunity to personally thank a donor is a great gift to me. We feel strongly that we canot say "thank you" enough. We recognize that a donation isn't always money. We hold our volunteers near and dear to our hearts.........we couldn't make a difference without your hard work and time.

Place I would love to travel to...

Spain or Hawaii

If I could meet one person from the past or present...

Mary Todd Lincoln. She risked losing her birth family when she chose to marry for true love and follow her beliefs in equality. She struggled with the loss of her children and played a great role in quietly advising the President on national affairs. This was during a time that did not support women as decision makers and she had few trustworthy friends. Plus, the First Lady had a great reputation as a bargain hunter!

My favorite hobbies...

Visiting Avalon NJ, gardening, cooking, writing letters the old fashioned way.......paper, pen and a stamp!

Many people would be surprised if they knew I...

Played Center on our high school football team.....(ok, it was a powder-puff team, but that counts!!)
