Shirley Moy was born and raised in New York City and has worked with non-profits ever since she graduated from college. Shirley’s first job was with the Cammy Lee Leukemia Foundation, where she recruited potential donors for patients in need of a life saving marrow and/or stem cell transplant. Next she moved on to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s NYC Chapter. As their Patient Aid Coordinator, Shirley developed a rapport with patients while providing them aid for their costly and grueling treatments. After a few years, she decided to find new opportunities in Philadelphia, where her fiancé (now husband) lives. The first job she applied for was with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and was thrilled when offered the position of Resource & Program Manager. She is honored to be a part of such a wonderful organization and hopes to continue making a difference for patients and families touched by childhood cancer.

What I do at ALSF...

I am the family contact for the foundation, and my role is to support them in any way that I can- whether it is through our programs or connecting them with other helpful resources. I manage and facilitate ALSF's own services such as the Travel Fund, annual Childhood Cancer Symposium, Hero Ambassador Program, Treatment Journal, and more!

What I like most about my job...

I really like meeting the families and children, learning about their stories and connecting with them. I admire their courage and strength... they are my inspiration and my heroes. I also like being a part of a team that makes a difference everyday for families affected by childhood cancer.

Place I would love to travel to...

For new places, I'd like to check out Hungary, Japan & Switzerland. Cities that have left a lasting impression on me are Honolulu, Vienna, Sedona, Amsterdam, Anchorage & Hong Kong. I'd revisit any of them in a heartbeat.

If I could meet one person from the past or present...

If only one person, it would be my grandfather, who passed away a few years ago. I would like to tell him how much he is missed and loved.

My favorite hobbies...

Traveling, road trips, spending time with my loved ones, volunteering, watching movies, adrenaline rides and learning about other cultures. I also like to sleep in when I can :)

Many people would be surprised if they knew I...

have been in a commercial… if only I was the Verizon gal… can you hear me now?
