This is our FIFTH SUMMER running our Stand. After hearing about Alex's Lemonade Stand through Alex's Story, my then 10-year-old sons wanted to help. My son Michael asked if we could run a stand weekly to help the cause. We did that year. We have continued our efforts ever since, although our stand format has developed over the years into a ONE BIG STAND AGAINST PEDIATRIC CANCER held yearly at Brigantine's Family Fun Day! We do this along with online fundraising and a letter-writing campaign to help the cause.

"Brigantine’s Own" Alex’s Lemonade Stand Youth Challenge Contest

You have probably been hearing a lot about Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in the past few weeks since this past weekend was known as the “Lemonade Stand Days” for the Foundation. However, did you know that anyone can hold a stand anytime to benefit the Foundation? “Brigantine’s Own” Alex’s Lemonade Stand is what our stand has come to be known since we have been holding it in Brigantine for 5 summers, now, and it has become a community effort! It is about our community pulling together to help the cause. It wouldn't be so successful without everyone coming together to support the stand in one way or another. Well...we would like to challenge youth to be creative in fundraising this year and hold their own stand before July 4th. Then turn the proceeds in at our stand at Family Fun Day on July 4th, at its new location at the 42nd Street Recreation Complex. We are sure with more youth on board, this will certainly be the most successful stand for our community in 5 years!

Any youth who brings in $10 or more proceeds from their own stand will receive a special award. The youth that brings in the most donations from a stand which they held will be awarded with an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Gold Award Pin along with another special prize! The trick to success is to be creative in fundraising! Try asking for the support of adults in your life! If you are crafty...you can make something and sell it at your stand along with your lemonade to benefit the cause. Be sure to list that 100 Percent of your proceeds will go to the Foundation. Perhaps you are musically talented? Maybe you can hold a concert for your friends and family with a lemonade "twist". You can collect donations in this way! Are you an artist? Perhaps you can hold your own Art Show for Family and Friends asking for "donations" to this cause instead of payment for your artwork? Having a party? It is nice to have an excuse to have some friends over! Hold an Alex's Lemonade Pizza Party...with the only thing your friends need to bring being a donation to the cause! You can have fun all while helping to raise funds! Remember, if you put your own talents into your idea, it is sure to be a success! If holding a traditional stand, remember...sometimes the best way to get donations is to not set a price for your lemonade, but instead say...Lemonade for a donation of your choice to help Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation! Did you know that a Brigantine Resident once donated $100 for a glass of lemonade?

MOST IN THE CONTEST WILL BE DROPPING OFF FUNDS TO THE FAMILY FUN DAY STAND. HOWEVER, DONATIONS CAN BE MADE ONLINE AT THIS SITE IF YOU PREFER.
Also, if you drop off the funds you raised to the Family Fun Day Stand, be sure to remind us to take your photo and give us your phone number so we can call to get your parent's permission for you to be included in what we would like to call: the "FACES of Brigantine's Own Alex's Lemonade Stand". We are hoping to send in a press release at the end of the summer, which will include the photos of all youth who participated in this challenge, with parent's permission, of course! With your donation, consider including a note as to what you did to raise the funds. We will award what we consider to be the most creative fundraising ideas and may include them in our end of the summer press release!

Parents/Grandparents...if you are reading this...please let the kids know! Of course, kids can turn in cash from their stand or can have their parents write out a check to “Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation” in the amount of the proceeds from their stand. Whichever is easier is fine! Good Luck to ALL! We will keep you posted!

Anna Maria Carozzo, was the top youth supporter in the past two summers! She has held stands for two years now and donated the proceeds both years! We wonder who else will join our Team in our effort to fund Pediatric Cancer Research! REMEMBER…Alex Scott was so very young when she had the idea of helping kids with cancer by running a Lemonade Stand. She knew something that many adults didn’t know…that youth can make a big difference in our world! She believed in this…and now the world knows it is true!

We thank all of the adults who are supporting our efforts this year. Especially the following: The Brigantine Elks Lodge who generously donated $200 to our stand. Also, we thank them for running a raffle of the donated grand prize of a Weekend Getaway for Two at “The Alex Hotel” in New York valued at $2,500. (Call the Mandes Family at: 266-4119, for details on purchasing tickets ahead of time. They will also be available at the stand. The Elks are also holding a Chinese Auction of amazing prizes! Tickets for this will only be a dollar!
