Curing the Incurable: The Crazy 8 Initiative Projects

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation founder Alex Scott believed that if we all work together, we would find cures for childhood cancer.

As researchers continue to move closer to cures for all children, there are still types of childhood cancer that continue to be incurable. In the spirit of Alex’s legacy, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has committed $18.5 million to four game-changing, collaborative projects at 15 institutions in the United States and Europe. Funded through the Crazy 8 Initiative, these projects are taking on the most deadly childhood cancers with one singular focus: curing the incurable.

“This is a high-risk project. You cannot just neglect these problems—and say okay, we’ve tried for such a long time and we can’t do anything about it. That’s not helping the kids. You have to take the risk.” – Dr. Heinrich Kovar, Crazy 8 Awardee
