Be A Champion for Kids with Cancer

Turn your season’s stats into lifesaving research dollars

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) was founded in 1888 and has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by approximately 700,000 participants and over 150,000 volunteers.

AAU Cares is the AAU's way of giving back to the community. AAU strives to provide not only athletic opportunities but also lessons in learning, life and social responsibility in the community. We are beyond thrilled that AAU Cares has joined forces with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation through the AAU Cares Champion for Kids with Cancer program. Through this program, AAU athletes can easily add a community service component to a sport they are already playing, all while helping kids fight cancer.

AAU athletes are able to turn their stats into lifesaving research dollars by asking friends and family to make a one-time donation or to pledge a dollar amount to any athletic accomplishment they would like to track-- points, saves, laps, etc. It is free to sign up and each AAU Cares Champion receives their own custom AAU Cares Champion page where they can upload photos, share athletic goals and track their progress, all while collecting donations to help change the lives of children with cancer. Now that is a win-win!

Please join us in the fight against childhood cancer and sign up to be an AAU Cares Champion today. Have questions? Feel free to contact us. We are here to help every step of the way--email us at [email protected] or call 1-866-333-1213.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Champion for Kids with Cancer?

Champions are athletes of all ages that dedicate their seasons to children with cancer. Through a personalized webpage, friends and family can make a one-time donation or pledge a dollar amount for athletic accomplishments. (For example, $2 per point X 50 points = $100 to research). Play the sport you love, raise awareness for children’s cancer and bring potentially lifesaving treatment options to thousands of kids waiting for a cure.

Who can be a Champion? *

Champion for Kids with Cancer is for everyone! Play the sport you love, raise funds and awareness and bring hope to thousands of kids and their families by turning your stats into research dollars.  Teams can register together too and track their group accomplishments!

*Please note that we suggest all high school athletes interested in participating in the Champions program notify their coach and athletic director. College athletes should talk with their compliance office about participation. For more specific information on NCAA compliance and the Champions program email [email protected].

Why support the Champions program?

Children with cancer need you on their team. Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children and pediatric cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded. Your support means more research projects in the hopes of eliminating this disease from children’s lives.

Where does the money go?

All funds raised go directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, a registered 501(c)3 charity. Careful distribution of our grants allows doctors to bring the latest and most promising lifesaving treatments to seriously ill children. These grants provide hope for childhood cancer patients and their families. Visit our Where the Money Goes section to learn more about how your donation helps.
