True friends help each other in their time of need. This is exactly what happened when Darran Dunlap was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at just 5 years old. Family friend, Amy Holtz wanted to do something to support them and got involved in Lemonade Days in 2017.

“Selling lemonade is a simple and familiar concept and helped my daughter understand more about cancer and how it impacts kids all over the world. Darran’s friends in our neighborhood came together to host several lemonade stands,” Amy said.

Families hosted 4 stands at different times—on weekdays, weekends, mornings and afternoons—in an effort to offer a time frame that worked for everyone interested in donating. Darran’s dad, a local sports radio host, shared the stand information on air and through social media.

“I love that Lemonade Days is very kid-friendly and gives us the opportunity to show families affected by cancer that NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!”

Amy’s Tip: We kicked off our lemonade stand the day of our neighborhood garage sale! We also created picture posters and had them on display at our stand so customers could connect with Darran and her story.
