Hi! My name is Madeline Hudnall. I’m a Columbus Nebraska Middle School student. For the past 7 years I’ve hosted an Alex’s Lemonade Stand to raise money for childhood cancer research. I hold the stand in honor of my friend, Charlie Preister. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a nationwide nonprofit effort to fund research for treatment and cure of childhood cancers. Alex Scott was a cancer patient that had a lemonade stand in her driveway. After she passed, her family began the foundation in her memory. My goal is to raise $10,000. To this date, I’ve raised almost $6,000. My stand this year will be the 8th stand I’ve held. The first five stands were in my front yard at my house with homemade cookies and lemonade. It wasn’t until my stand at home made over $500.00 that I decided to go BIG! I began by officially registering my stands with the foundation, creating a fundraising page on their site and making a big move. That’s when I began hosting stands located at our local HyVee grocery store. HyVee provides the lemonade, cookies, and supplies. My last two stands grossed over $5,000!! I’m hoping to make this my biggest stand yet!! I’m asking for your support by attending my stand or making an online donation. The dates of my stand are June 6th, 7th, and 8th. If you could attend just one of those dates I would be honored to have you as a guest. As several children that I know personally have been diagnosed with cancer since I began my stand, I not only hold my stand in honor of my friend Charlie, but hope to offer a little hope to all the families that struggle with this diagnosis.
