When Robbie was 2 years old, he suffered illness after illness sparking his pediatrician to order blood tests. Those blood tests displayed severe issues with his white blood cells and we were referred to a pediatric hematologist/oncologist. The mere suggestion of cancer paralyzed our family. We were overwhelmingly relieved when we learned that Robbie was dealing with a non-cancerous white blood cell issue (which he has since grown out of). However, for 4 years he endured several blood tests and would play along side of children receiving chemotherapy treatments during hematology visits at Lehigh Valley Hospital. As a family, we continue to support the kiddos Robbie played along side of through our new tradition of hosting annual Alex's Lemonade Stands.
