I'm running for Team Lemon during the Walt Disney World Dopey challenge. 48.1 miles in 4 days and I'm super pumped! There were many reasons that Team Lemon as my charity of choice. When I was younger my best friend was diagnosed with cancer. The tumors would randomly grow in areas around her brain. When you are a child you are under the impression that no matter how sick someone is doctors are able to heal them. One day we found out that the doctors could do no more for her. When she finally passed I was devastated unable to comprehend how the surgeons were unable to help her. Looking back she was one of the bravest people I've ever known. Over the years I've had friends whose siblings or children have also suffered through childhood cancer and they've been just as brave. My hope is that one day these children will only need to be brave in order to face what's hiding in the closet or under the bed. They shouldn't have to worry about chemo treatment or their days ending prematurely. I'm fundraising so hopefully that day will be here just that much sooner.
