Please join us in raising money and awareness for childhood cancer treatment and research! I am holding a Lemonade stand in honor of Austin Dunlap.Below is a message from his Mom Valerie Dunlap:
August 11, 2010 Austin 13 years old was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia Philadelphia positive. He spent 3 years living in and out of St. Peter's hospital getting chemotherapy. May 7, 2013 he received he last chemotherapy and was in remission, cancer free.
November 18th he went into the ER with a bloody nose that would not stop. With requesting some blood work due to his past health issues. We new within 30 minutes he had relapsed he had no platelets and his white blood cells were extremely high. He was admitted and they began chemotherapy along with platelet transfusion. We spent 31 days in St Peters hospital and during that time they were treating him until he was healthy enough to travel to Seattle. Austin had to have a bone marrow transplant and was added to the donor list. At this time we were looking on line like crazy for some help for travel expenses. I called several and since we did not have a for sure travel date and lived in Montana it was getting hard to find help. One evening I came across the Alex's Lemonade Stand and sent a email. It was within in 24 hours I received a reply to my email was able to make some kind of a financial plan for our 1st trip to Seattle. We traveled to Seattle over New Year's Eve and Austin was blessed with a unrelated donor. We returned to Seattle 1/19/14 for our 5 month stay and Austin received his bone marrow transplant 2/21/14 at Seattle Children's Hospital. We stayed in hospital for 6 weeks and have been blessed with Go For The Gold and Halstyn to find us a condo to stay in while we had to be in Seattle. Austin just turned 17 years old last week, We are hoping to return to home June 3, 2014. Please follow his journey at
